Amazon Launches Faster Fire TV Stick 4K With Redesigned Remote

Amazon has introduced a new Fire TV Stick 4K (2026) alongside a completely redesigned Fire TV Remote, bringing faster performance, a slimmer design and improved controls to its streaming lineup.

The new streaming stick is designed to get users from startup to watching content more quickly, while the redesigned remote focuses on making frequently used buttons easier to locate by touch.

Faster Performance With the New Fire TV Stick 4K

Amazon says the new Fire TV Stick 4K can get users to streaming content nearly 20% to 40% faster than a similarly priced competing 4K streaming stick.

According to Amazon's testing, applications launch more than 35% faster, while video playback can begin nearly 20% faster. Amazon also compared the device with the built-in software of three popular 4K smart TVs and reported that the Fire TV Stick 4K started content faster in its tests.

The device features a quad-core 1.7GHz processor and 8GB of internal storage. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth Low Energy.

Slimmer Design and USB Power

The new Fire TV Stick 4K adopts a slimmer design similar to Amazon's newer Fire TV Stick HD.

One of the most convenient additions is Direct Power, which allows the streaming stick to receive power directly from a compatible TV's USB port using the included cable. This can reduce cable clutter and make the device easier to take while traveling.

For video playback, the device supports 4K output at up to 60 frames per second along with formats including HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, H.265, H.264, VP9 and AV1.

Vega OS and Alexa+

The new Fire TV Stick 4K runs Amazon's Vega operating system rather than the older Fire OS platform.

Amazon says more than 2,000 additional apps have been added to Vega OS since the launch of its first Vega-based Fire TV product. These include services such as Spotify, Xbox, VLC and various VPN applications, alongside popular streaming platforms including Netflix, Disney+, YouTube and Prime Video.

The device also comes with Alexa+ and Amazon's updated Fire TV experience.

Redesigned Fire TV Remote

Amazon has also introduced a new Fire TV Remote with a more tactile design.

The remote uses an asymmetric shape, featuring a flatter upper section and a curved, weighted lower portion. This design is intended to help users determine which way they are holding the remote without looking down.

Several buttons have also been redesigned with different shapes, indentations or surfaces so they can be identified more easily by touch. The Home button now has a distinct metal surface.

Another useful addition is a customizable star button. Users can configure it to open a favorite application or activate certain settings, such as closed captions or screen magnification.

The remote also includes dedicated controls for compatible TVs, soundbars and receivers, including power, volume and mute buttons.

Fire TV Remote Plus Coming Next Year

Amazon has also announced a premium Fire TV Remote Plus, scheduled to arrive in early 2027.

The upgraded remote will feature an aluminum body, backlit buttons and a Find My Remote function. Users will be able to ask Alexa to locate the remote, causing it to play a sound.

Amazon plans to position the Remote Plus as the successor to its current Alexa Voice Remote Pro.

Simplified Fire TV Lineup

Amazon is also simplifying its streaming-stick lineup.

The company's main streaming-stick range now consists of three models:

• Fire TV Stick HD – Entry-level option for everyday streaming
• Fire TV Stick 4K – Mainstream 4K model balancing performance and price
• Fire TV Stick 4K Max – Higher-end option with additional performance and premium features

Amazon will also continue offering the Fire TV Cube for users who want a more powerful Fire TV device with hands-free Alexa functionality.

Price and Availability

The new Fire TV Stick 4K costs $59.99 and is shipping in several markets, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Australia. More markets are expected to receive it later.

In the U.S., Amazon is offering the device for $29.99 during Prime Big Deal Days, representing a 50% temporary discount from its standard price.

The redesigned Fire TV Remote is also available separately for $14.99, with standalone shipments scheduled to begin later in October.

Conclusion

With the new Fire TV Stick 4K, Amazon is combining faster performance, 4K streaming, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and a slimmer design with its newer Vega operating system and Alexa+.

The redesigned remote is another major part of the update, offering tactile controls and a customizable shortcut button. Meanwhile, the upcoming Fire TV Remote Plus will add premium features such as backlighting and remote-finding functionality.

Overall, Amazon's latest Fire TV hardware refresh focuses on speed, simpler product choices and easier everyday navigation while expanding its newer Vega OS platform.
