Samsung Expands One UI 9 Rollout to Galaxy S26, S25 and Foldable Phones

Samsung is rapidly expanding the availability of its One UI 9 software update, bringing the Android 17-based experience to more Galaxy smartphones across international markets.

After initially launching One UI 9 with the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung has started extending the stable update to several previous-generation flagship phones and its latest foldable devices. The rollout is being delivered in phases, so availability can vary depending on the country, carrier and specific device model.

Galaxy S26 Series Receives One UI 9

Samsung began the official One UI 9 rollout with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The update brings a number of Galaxy AI improvements, interface changes, security enhancements and productivity features.

Samsung's official update information confirms that One UI 9 is based on Android 17. For example, a Galaxy S26 update released on September 28 includes One UI 9 and the September 2026 security patch.

Galaxy S25 Series Joins the Rollout

Samsung has also started distributing One UI 9 to the Galaxy S25 lineup, including:

  • Galaxy S25
  • Galaxy S25+
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra
  • Galaxy S25 Edge
  • Galaxy S25 FE

The Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra began receiving the stable update in South Korea, while the S25 Edge and S25 FE have also started receiving stable One UI 9 updates. International availability is expected to expand in stages.

Latest Foldables Also Get One UI 9

Samsung's newest foldable smartphones are part of the early One UI 9 rollout. The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 have started receiving the stable update in South Korea following their beta testing period.

Samsung had previously included both devices in its One UI 9 beta program, alongside the Galaxy S25 family.

The One UI 9 rollout follows the software's debut on Samsung's newer foldable generation, including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.

New Galaxy AI Features

One UI 9 introduces several Galaxy AI improvements. One of the notable additions is My FanCam, which can automatically follow a selected person in a recorded video and keep them centered as they move.

Samsung has also expanded Now Nudge, which provides contextual suggestions in additional areas of the Galaxy interface. Suggestions can appear in conversation notifications and through a floating button, with support for actions such as entering reservation information or saving locations in Google Maps.

The Interpreter experience has also been improved, allowing users to continue viewing their conversation while using conversation mode.

More Customizable Quick Panel

Samsung is giving users greater control over the Quick Panel in One UI 9.

Users can rearrange controls and adjust the size of elements such as the brightness and volume sliders and media player. The sound mode button can also be separated from the volume controls.

These changes provide additional flexibility for users who want to customize the Quick Panel according to their preferences.

Stronger Privacy and Security

One UI 9 also places additional emphasis on privacy and device security.

A new AI privacy alert system can monitor how applications use permissions and notify users when apps appear to request unnecessary access to personal information.

Samsung has also introduced a blue indicator that appears when an application accesses the device's location. Users can tap the indicator to see which app is accessing their location.

The update also provides security warnings for issues such as malware, applications from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions. Samsung says apps identified as malicious or vulnerable can be blocked from opening until the user decides what action to take.

Samsung Health Gets a Major Refresh

One UI 9 brings a redesigned Samsung Health experience with updated visuals, charts and customizable information cards.

Users can reorganize the Health home screen and quickly record information such as mood and meals. Samsung has also added more detailed trend analysis and features related to sleep, heart health, cardio load and fitness.

The update also introduces a hearing tracker that can monitor sound exposure using compatible Galaxy Watches and headphone audio levels.

Bixby Improvements

Samsung's voice assistant also receives several updates.

One UI 9 allows users to activate Bixby with a gesture by bringing the phone close to their mouth and speaking, without using a wake-up phrase.

Bixby conversations can also be searched, renamed and pinned. Samsung has added a Bixby widget to the Home screen for faster access to conversations and voice or text interactions.

Updated Lock Screen and Samsung DeX

One UI 9 includes several smaller interface improvements as well.

The default Lock Screen clock has received a redesigned appearance that adapts more naturally to the wallpaper.

Samsung DeX users can move application windows between desktops more easily, while desktop previews have been added to the Recents screen to make switching between workspaces simpler.

How to Check for One UI 9

If you own an eligible Galaxy device and haven't received the update notification yet, you can manually check for it:

Settings → Software update → Download and install

Samsung distributes major updates in stages, so two identical devices in different countries or on different carriers may not receive the firmware at the same time.

The current rollout includes the following major Galaxy models:

Galaxy S26S26, S26+, S26 Ultra
Galaxy S25S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S25 FE

Final Thoughts

Samsung is moving One UI 9 beyond its latest flagship generation and expanding the Android 17-based software experience to more Galaxy devices.

The update combines new Galaxy AI capabilities with Quick Panel customization, improved privacy controls, Samsung Health enhancements, Bixby upgrades and refinements to the overall Galaxy experience.

As Samsung continues its phased rollout, more Galaxy models and markets are expected to receive One UI 9. Users with eligible devices can check the Software Update section of their phone to see whether the firmware is available.
