HONOR Play20C Launches With Rear Touchscreen, 6000mAh Battery and 90Hz Display
HONOR has officially introduced the HONOR Play20C, an affordable smartphone that brings an unusual feature to the budget segment: a touch-enabled secondary display on the back.
The new phone combines its rear touchscreen with a large 6,000mAh battery, a 6.78-inch display, a 50MP main camera and Android 16 Go Edition. The Play20C is essentially the global version of the recently introduced HONOR X5d s, although there are some configuration differences between the two models.
HONOR Play20C Features a Rear Touchscreen
The biggest attraction of the Play20C is its 2.01-inch rear touchscreen, positioned next to the main camera.
The secondary display isn't simply decorative. HONOR says users can interact with it to view notifications, check call alerts, control media playback and personalize the phone with clocks and wallpapers.
The rear screen also has a practical photography function. Users can use it as a preview display when taking selfies with the phone's main camera, potentially allowing better-quality self-portraits than the front-facing camera.
6.78-Inch 90Hz Display
On the front, the HONOR Play20C features a large 6.78-inch LCD display with a 720 × 1576 resolution.
The screen supports a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, providing more fluid scrolling and animations compared with conventional 60Hz panels. HONOR lists the display with a typical brightness of around 600 nits.
The large display makes the Play20C suitable for everyday tasks such as watching videos, browsing social media and using messaging applications.

50MP Main Camera
Photography is handled by a 50MP rear camera with autofocus. The camera can also record video at up to 1080p.
For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 5MP front-facing camera. However, users looking for higher-quality selfies can take advantage of the rear touchscreen and the 50MP primary camera instead.
6000mAh Battery With 15W Charging
The HONOR Play20C packs a substantial 6,000mAh battery, giving it a significant advantage for users who prioritize battery endurance.
The battery supports 15W wired charging through a USB Type-C port. While the large capacity should provide extended usage, the relatively modest charging speed means a full recharge may take longer than on more expensive smartphones.
Unisoc Chipsets and Android 16 Go Edition
HONOR offers different processor configurations depending on the storage variant.
The 4GB RAM + 128GB model uses the Unisoc T615, while other configurations are powered by the Unisoc T610. Storage can reach 128GB, and HONOR also supports expansion through a memory card on supported versions.
The smartphone runs Android 16 Go Edition, which is designed for entry-level devices and aims to provide a lightweight software experience.
Design and Color Options
Despite its budget positioning, the Play20C has a distinctive design because of its rear display.
The phone measures approximately 168.3 × 78.5 × 8.72mm and weighs around 214 grams. It is available in Forest Green, Sunrise Gold and Midnight Black colors.
HONOR Play20C Price and Availability
The HONOR Play20C is currently listed on HONOR's global website. In Nigeria, the 4GB + 64GB version has been listed at NGN 149,900, which is roughly $113 based on the exchange rate referenced in current reports.
HONOR has not yet announced detailed pricing and availability for every international market, so prices may vary by region.

Final Thoughts
The HONOR Play20C is an interesting addition to the budget smartphone market thanks to its rear touchscreen. Instead of reserving dual-screen functionality for expensive flagship phones, HONOR is bringing the concept to a much more affordable device.
Its 6,000mAh battery, large 90Hz display and 50MP camera further strengthen the package. However, the modest 15W charging and entry-level Unisoc hardware show that this remains a budget-focused smartphone.
For buyers looking for an affordable phone with something different, the Play20C's rear touchscreen could make it stand out from conventional smartphones.
