Modern Warfare 4 Prestige Unlocks: All MW4 Prestige Rewards Explained
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is bringing back the Prestige system with a major change that gives players more control over how they progress. Instead of forcing everyone to follow the same reset system, MW4 gives players a choice between Classic Prestige and Regular Prestige.
Players can reach Prestige after completing the main Multiplayer progression and reaching Level 55. From there, they can choose which Prestige path they want to follow. The choice can be made again when entering each new Prestige level.
How Prestige Works in Modern Warfare 4
Modern Warfare 4 features 10 Prestige levels, followed by a much longer Prestige Master progression that extends all the way to Level 1,000.
The system is designed to give players additional goals after completing the standard Level 1–55 progression. Prestige rewards include cosmetic items, weapon blueprints, Operator rewards, icons and other customization options.
The biggest change is that players can decide whether they want the traditional reset experience or a more flexible progression system.
Classic Prestige vs Regular Prestige
Modern Warfare 4 offers two different Prestige options.
Classic Prestige
Classic Prestige is designed for players who enjoy the traditional Call of Duty Prestige experience.
When players select Classic Prestige, their level unlocks and Create-a-Class progression are reset. In return, they receive additional benefits, including a 20% XP boost, a Permanent Unlock Token and bonus cosmetic rewards.
The Permanent Unlock Token allows players to permanently keep one eligible loadout item unlocked, even after their progression has been reset.
This makes Classic Prestige the more demanding option, but it also provides additional rewards for players willing to rebuild their progression.
Regular Prestige
Regular Prestige provides a less restrictive alternative.
Players who choose Regular Prestige restart their progression from Level 1, but their unlocked content and Create-a-Class items remain available. This means they can continue earning Prestige rewards without having to unlock their previously available loadout content again.
Players can also change their approach when moving into another Prestige level, giving them the freedom to use Classic Prestige for some levels and Regular Prestige for others.
How Many Prestige Levels Are in MW4?
Modern Warfare 4 has 10 main Prestige levels.
Prestige begins after players reach Level 55, and each Prestige level provides additional milestones and rewards. Players who complete all 10 Prestige levels can then enter Prestige Master.
Prestige Master extends the progression system from Level 56 through Level 1,000, giving dedicated players a much longer-term progression goal.
Modern Warfare 4 Prestige Rewards
Each Prestige level includes rewards that players can unlock as they continue progressing.
Depending on the Prestige level and chosen path, rewards can include:
- Weapon blueprints
- Operator skins
- Weapon charms
- Calling cards
- Emblems
- Decals
- Loading screens
- Prestige icons
- Permanent Unlock Tokens
- Other cosmetic rewards
Most Prestige rewards are shared between the two paths, although Classic Prestige provides additional bonus rewards.
Prestige 1 Rewards
The first Prestige level introduces several rewards as players progress through its milestones.
Among the rewards are a weapon charm, a large decal and a weapon blueprint. Players following the Classic Prestige path can also benefit from the Permanent Unlock Token and additional cosmetic rewards.
The system allows players to continue progressing even after reaching the maximum standard Multiplayer level.
Prestige 2 Through Prestige 10
The remaining Prestige levels continue the reward structure and also celebrate previous entries in the Call of Duty franchise.
Prestige rewards include different weapon blueprints, Operator cosmetics and other customization items.
For example, Prestige 2 includes rewards connected to Call of Duty 2, while later Prestige levels reference other games from the franchise. Prestige 10 represents Modern Warfare 4 itself.
This gives long-time Call of Duty fans another reason to keep progressing through the system.
What Is Prestige Master in Modern Warfare 4?
After completing all 10 Prestige levels, players can enter Prestige Master.
Prestige Master significantly extends the grind, allowing players to progress beyond the traditional Level 55 cap and eventually reach Level 1,000.
Players can earn additional rewards throughout this progression, including cosmetic items, level colors, weapon blueprints, calling cards and other customization content.
At higher Prestige Master levels, players can also unlock legacy Prestige icons inspired by previous Call of Duty games.

Modern Warfare 4 Prestige Master Level 1,000
Reaching Prestige Master Level 1,000 is intended to be one of the biggest long-term achievements in Modern Warfare 4.
Legacy Prestige icon sets become available at major milestones, including every 100 levels from Level 100 onward. Players can use these icons to customize how their Prestige status appears to other players.
The final progression milestone is known as Prestige Legend, which awaits players who reach Level 1,000.
Does Prestige Reset Weapons?
The standard player Prestige system and Weapon Prestige are separate progression systems.
When a weapon is fully leveled, players can enter Weapon Prestige and earn exclusive weapon cosmetics. However, weapon progression has its own requirements and does not work exactly like the main player Prestige system.
Modern Warfare 4 also introduces Apex Attachments, which become available after fully progressing supported weapons.
Which Modern Warfare 4 Prestige Path Should You Choose?
The best Prestige option depends on how you prefer to play.
Classic Prestige is better for players who enjoy rebuilding their loadouts and want additional XP benefits, Permanent Unlock Tokens and bonus rewards.
Regular Prestige is better for players who want to continue leveling while keeping their unlocked weapons, equipment and Create-a-Class content.
Because MW4 allows players to choose again when entering subsequent Prestige levels, there is no need to commit permanently to only one system.
Final Thoughts
Modern Warfare 4 gives the Prestige system a significant upgrade by combining the traditional reset experience with a more flexible alternative.
Players who reach Level 55 can choose between Classic and Regular Prestige, while those who complete all 10 Prestige levels can continue their journey through Prestige Master all the way to Level 1,000.
With weapon blueprints, Operator cosmetics, Prestige icons, XP bonuses and other rewards available throughout the system, Modern Warfare 4 Prestige is set to give multiplayer players plenty of reasons to keep leveling after reaching the standard rank cap.
