Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max Poll Results: Price Could Decide Their Global Success

Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphones have generated plenty of interest since the company announced that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will launch globally. However, the results of a recent reader poll suggest that there is one major factor that could determine whether these phones become successful outside China: their global pricing.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max offer impressive specifications, including next-generation Snapdragon processors, large batteries, high-resolution cameras and secondary displays on the rear camera modules. Despite the strong hardware, many potential buyers appear to be waiting for Xiaomi to reveal the international prices.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Gets Stronger Interest

According to the poll results, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max appears to have the stronger appeal among buyers. While price remains a concern for many voters, a significant number have already decided that the phone is attractive enough to consider purchasing.

The Pro Max combines a large 6.9-inch display with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. It also features an impressive 8,500mAh battery and a camera setup centered around a 200MP main camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto sensor.

Around 5% of voters said they would rather wait for a possible Xiaomi Ultra model, but this group represents only a small portion of the overall audience.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Appeals to Fans of Smaller Flagships

The standard Xiaomi 18 Pro has also received positive attention, particularly from buyers who prefer a more compact flagship.

The phone now features a 6.4-inch display, which is slightly larger than its predecessor. However, Xiaomi has managed to keep the overall dimensions close to the previous generation by reducing the bezels.

The 18 Pro also packs a substantial 7,000mAh battery and uses the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor. Its camera system includes high-resolution 200MP sensors, along with a 50MP ultrawide camera.

Still, the poll suggests that the smaller Pro model has fewer buyers already committed to purchasing it, while concerns about its eventual price appear to be more noticeable.

Strong Competition Could Make Pricing Crucial

The Xiaomi 18 Pro models will face plenty of competition when they reach international markets.

Poll participants mentioned devices such as the vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, while Motorola's upcoming Signature 27 and Samsung's Galaxy S27 Ultra were also brought up as potential alternatives.

This means Xiaomi may need to carefully position the 18 Pro series if it wants to compete effectively against other premium smartphones.

Chinese Pricing Gives Us an Idea

For now, Xiaomi has only revealed Chinese pricing for the two models.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro starts at approximately CNY 5,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max starts at around CNY 6,999 with the same memory and storage combination.

However, international prices are expected to be higher than direct currency conversions because of taxes, distribution costs and regional pricing strategies.

The real question is therefore not simply whether the phones are expensive, but whether Xiaomi can offer enough value compared with competing flagship smartphones.

Rising Smartphone Prices Are Becoming a Concern

The poll also highlights a broader issue affecting the smartphone industry. Prices for smartphones and other electronics continue to increase, particularly for models with higher RAM and storage configurations.

Around 12% of poll participants said they have decided not to purchase a new smartphone anytime soon because of rising prices.

With analysts expecting pricing pressure to continue into 2027, some consumers may choose to keep their existing phones for several more years rather than upgrade.

Final Thoughts

The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max have the hardware needed to compete in the premium smartphone market. Their powerful Snapdragon processors, large batteries, advanced camera systems and rear displays give them plenty of standout features.

However, the poll results make one thing clear: Xiaomi's international pricing could be the deciding factor.

If Xiaomi keeps the global prices competitive, the 18 Pro series could attract buyers looking for an alternative to Samsung, Apple and other flagship brands. If the prices rise too aggressively, many potential customers may simply choose to wait for another generation or move to a competing device.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the 18 Pro series will launch globally later this year, so the final verdict will likely depend on the prices announced for each market.
