Work is underway on the Islamabad Technology Park Development Project as Pakistan continues to expand its digital and technology infrastructure. The project is designed to provide IT companies, startups, and technology-related businesses with modern facilities and a connected environment for growth.
According to official documents, the project has an estimated cost of Rs 23.3 billion. It is being developed under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and the Pakistan Software Export Board.
The Islamabad Technology Park is being established at Chak Shahzad and will cover around 14.9 acres. The facility is planned to have approximately 719,775 square feet of covered space. It will have the capacity to accommodate around 100 technology companies and nearly 8,400 technology professionals.

The project is intended to support a wide range of technology-related activities, including IT-enabled services, software development, research and development, incubation and collaboration between universities and industry.
The technology park is also expected to provide startups and emerging technology businesses with an environment where they can develop their products, access relevant facilities and build connections with other companies and institutions.
According to the government, the project is part of broader efforts to expand Pakistan’s digital economy and strengthen the country’s technology sector. It is also aimed at supporting IT exports and creating opportunities for skilled professionals.

The government has identified IT infrastructure and export growth as key priorities in 2026. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also directed relevant authorities to take further measures to improve IT exports and digital infrastructure.
Once operational, the Islamabad Technology Park could provide a dedicated space for technology companies and professionals while supporting research, innovation and collaboration between the technology industry and academia.
The project is therefore being positioned as part of Pakistan’s wider efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure and create an ecosystem that can support the growth of IT businesses, startups and technology professionals.
