The Consumer Protection Court in Peshawar has directed Easypaisa to refund Rs40,000 to a customer after money was transferred from his account through transactions he said he did not authorize.
The court also ordered the digital payment service to pay Rs25,000 in compensation to the customer and another Rs25,000 fine to the government. This brings the total amount payable by Easypaisa to Rs90,000.

Consumer Court Judge Nasrullah Khan Gandapur announced the decision on October 3, 2026.
According to the complaint filed by Fahad-ur-Rehman, Rs40,000 was transferred from his Easypaisa account on February 12, 2026, through three separate transactions.
The transactions included Rs10,000 sent to Imran Traders, Rs22,000 transferred to Swift Collect System, and another Rs8,000 sent to Easy Online Service.
The customer told the court that he had not carried out these transactions and had not given permission to anyone to transfer the money from his account.
Court Holds Payment Service Responsible
In its ruling, the court said companies providing financial and electronic payment services must take reasonable steps to protect consumers and their accounts.
The court noted that such institutions have a responsibility to exercise due care, maintain appropriate security measures, and provide services according to the required standards.
The court also observed that no representative of Easypaisa appeared despite receiving notice of the proceedings. As a result, the case proceeded ex parte, meaning the court heard and decided the matter in the absence of the company.
Easypaisa Ordered to Pay Rs90,000
The court partially accepted the customer’s complaint and issued orders for three separate payments.
Easypaisa must return Rs40,000 to the customer as a refund. It must also pay Rs25,000 as compensation to the customer and Rs25,000 to the government as a fine.
The total financial liability therefore stands at Rs90,000.
The ruling highlights the responsibility of digital payment platforms to maintain adequate security and protect customers from unauthorized transactions. Consumers can also seek legal relief if someone uses their financial accounts without authorization.
