Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro Review: Premium Design, Powerful Tracking and Incredible Battery Life

Huawei continues to strengthen its smartwatch lineup with the new Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro, a premium wearable that combines a durable titanium design, advanced health monitoring, extensive sports-tracking features, and impressive battery endurance.

While the Watch GT 7 Pro introduces several improvements over the previous generation, most of its core hardware remains familiar. Huawei has instead focused heavily on enhancing fitness features, particularly for cycling, skiing, snowboarding, and golf.

Premium Titanium Design

The Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro maintains the large 46mm form factor used by its predecessor. Its case is constructed from titanium alloy, giving the smartwatch a premium appearance while keeping the overall weight at around 55.5 grams without the strap.

One of the most noticeable design changes is the nanocrystalline ceramic bezel surrounding the display. Besides adding a distinctive look, the ceramic material should provide better resistance against everyday scratches.

Huawei offers the watch in several color combinations, including Pine Green, Wild Yellow, and Carbon Black, with matching strap and bezel accents.

The redesigned strap uses a tuck-under mechanism rather than a traditional buckle. This provides a secure fit and can be particularly useful during activities such as cycling, where a conventional buckle may become loose or flap around.

The watch supports standard 22mm straps, giving users the flexibility to replace the included strap with compatible third-party options.

1.47-Inch AMOLED Display

The Watch GT 7 Pro features a circular 1.47-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a 466 x 466-pixel resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by sapphire glass and supports an advertised peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits.

In testing, the display reached around 1,040 nits in automatic brightness mode. Although this is considerably below the advertised peak figure, the screen remains bright enough for comfortable outdoor viewing, including under strong sunlight.

Colors are vibrant and accurate, while the Always-On Display provides convenient access to essential information without requiring users to wake the screen.

HarmonyOS 6.1 and Smart Features

Huawei ships the Watch GT 7 Pro with HarmonyOS 6.1. The interface will feel familiar to users of previous Huawei watches, with a card-based design and gesture navigation.

The watch works with both Android and iOS devices through the Huawei Health application. Users can access health statistics, exercise information, watch-face customization, and other settings from the companion app.

There is a large collection of watch faces, with more than 100,000 options available. However, some of the more polished designs require payment.

The smartwatch also includes a microphone and speaker, allowing users to answer phone calls directly from their wrist. The speaker provides enough volume for conversations, while the microphone can capture voice even in relatively noisy environments.

The built-in microphone can also be used for voice recordings.

One limitation is the third-party app ecosystem. Outside China, Huawei's smartwatch platform offers fewer third-party applications than Wear OS-based competitors.

NFC is also available for contactless payments, although payment support is limited to Curve Pay in supported markets and requires setup through a smartphone.

Health Tracking Features

Health monitoring remains one of the major strengths of the Watch GT 7 Pro.

The smartwatch uses Huawei's TruSense sensor system to monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep, stress, and other health-related measurements. Testing found heart-rate and SpO2 readings broadly consistent with those of the previous Watch GT 6 Pro.

The watch also supports ECG measurements. Users need to remain still while taking an ECG reading, as even small movements can affect the result.

Additional health features include pulse-wave arrhythmia analysis, heart-rate variability monitoring, and arterial stiffness measurements.

As with other consumer smartwatches, these measurements should be viewed as wellness and fitness information rather than medical diagnoses.

Detailed Sleep Tracking

The Watch GT 7 Pro provides detailed sleep monitoring, including light, deep, and REM sleep stages.

It also tracks movement, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and average respiratory rate during sleep. Testing showed that the watch generally recorded sleep and wake times accurately, although some nighttime awakenings were occasionally missed.

Long-term tracking can also reveal changes in sleep patterns and overall sleep quality.

Expanded Sports Tracking

Huawei has placed significant emphasis on sports tracking with the GT 7 Pro.

The watch supports more than 150 sports modes through the Huawei Health ecosystem, while the major new features focus on cycling, skiing, snowboarding, and golf.

Golf tracking includes features such as shot distance, plays-like distance, custom green pins, automatic green views, and multi-color course scorecards.

For skiing and snowboarding, Huawei has added maps covering more than 3,000 ski resorts worldwide. Users can access topographical information, trail difficulty indicators, turn analysis, G-force measurements, and posture recognition.

The watch also introduces indoor skiing and snowboarding tracking modes.

Improved Cycling Tracking

Cyclists receive several new tools, including urban, road, and long-distance cycling modes.

The watch can provide route elevation information, climb planning, sharp-turn alerts, and lactate-threshold data.

Huawei has also introduced its AI-XDR positioning technology, which uses information from the accelerometer and gyroscope to help maintain positioning when GPS signals are temporarily unavailable.

Testing showed improved positioning accuracy in challenging urban areas, including when passing through underpasses.

Physical Readiness Monitoring

Another useful feature is Huawei's physical readiness card.

The system analyzes factors including sleep, recent workouts, stress, heart rate, and heart-rate variability to estimate how prepared the body is for exercise.

The resulting score ranges from 1 to 100 and is designed to help users understand whether they should push harder or allow more time for recovery.

Impressive Battery Life

Battery endurance is one of the strongest aspects of the Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro.

The smartwatch has an 867mAh battery. During testing, it lasted approximately 15 full days, with the 16th day beginning at just 2% battery.

This result was achieved with health and activity monitoring enabled, automatic brightness, several workouts per week, frequent notifications, and occasional phone calls.

Turning on the Always-On Display reduced battery life to around 10 days, which is still impressive for a smartwatch.

Huawei advertises up to 21 days of battery life under lighter usage conditions. For users who mainly need notifications, alarms, and basic timekeeping, charging may therefore be required only occasionally.

A full charge from 0% to 100% takes approximately 90 minutes.

Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro Review: Final Verdict

The Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro is a premium smartwatch built around three major strengths: durability, health and fitness tracking, and long battery life.

Its titanium construction, ceramic bezel, sapphire-protected AMOLED display, extensive sports modes, and excellent battery endurance make it a capable everyday wearable.

However, owners of the previous Watch GT 6 Pro may find fewer reasons to upgrade because the core hardware and many health-tracking capabilities remain similar. The biggest improvements are concentrated in specialized sports tracking, positioning accuracy, and the redesigned strap.

The limited third-party app ecosystem and restricted NFC payment options also remain areas where Huawei's smartwatch platform trails some Wear OS competitors.

For users coming from an older smartwatch or looking for a premium wearable with long battery life and comprehensive fitness features, the Watch GT 7 Pro offers a strong combination of hardware and functionality.
