Apple and LG Smart Home Devices Leaked: Smart Lock, Thermostat and More Revealed

Apple appears to be preparing a major expansion into the smart home market, and newly leaked images have given us an early look at several devices reportedly being developed in collaboration with LG.

The leaked hardware includes a smart deadbolt lock, smart thermostat and temperature sensor. Additional reports indicate that the broader lineup could also include video doorbells and several security cameras.

Apple and LG Are Building a New Smart Home Ecosystem

Apple has reportedly been working with LG Electronics on a range of connected-home accessories designed to work with Apple's upcoming smart home ecosystem. Unlike Apple's own hardware, these products are expected to carry the LG brand.

The partnership could allow Apple to expand its smart home platform without having to manufacture every accessory itself. LG would handle the hardware, while Apple is reportedly involved in development and integration.

The leaked products could become part of Apple's wider smart home strategy, which is expected to include a new home hub, an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV.

LG Smart Deadbolt Lock

One of the most interesting leaked products is the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock.

Images reportedly show a rotating keypad that can be positioned to prevent it from hitting a nearby wall. The lock is also said to support features such as automatic unlocking and tap-to-unlock functionality.

Other reported settings include customizable keypad lighting, lock sounds and an alarm that can notify users when a door is left open. The lock is also expected to include emergency power functionality and traditional mechanical keys.

Reports suggest the device could support ultra-wideband technology, potentially allowing proximity-based unlocking when used within Apple's smart home ecosystem.

LG Smart Thermostat

The leaked thermostat appears to have a circular design with a prominent display.

According to the leaked information, the thermostat could offer options for adjusting brightness, language, humidity information and temperature calibration. A feature called Far Sight Display is also reportedly included.

The thermostat could work alongside LG's temperature sensors to provide more detailed information about conditions in different rooms.

LG Temperature Sensor

A separate LG Temperature Sensor has also appeared in the leaks.

The compact accessory reportedly measures both temperature and humidity. Its magnetic rear surface could allow it to attach directly to metal surfaces, while an included adhesive-backed metal plate would provide another mounting option.

The sensor is also expected to use a replaceable battery and could alert users when the battery needs to be changed.

This could make the accessory useful for monitoring conditions in multiple rooms and providing additional data to the smart thermostat.

Cameras and Video Doorbell Also Reportedly Coming

The three leaked products may only represent part of the planned lineup.

Reports indicate that Apple and LG are also working on a wired video doorbell, indoor security camera, outdoor camera and floodlight camera. The camera products are reportedly designed to support modern wireless connectivity and Apple's broader smart home ecosystem.

The leaked video doorbell reportedly includes two cameras, including one aimed downward, while the outdoor and floodlight models are expected to offer features such as infrared lighting, microphones and speakers.

When Could the New Devices Launch?

Apple is expected to highlight its renewed smart home strategy in October 2026. The company is reportedly preparing a new smart home hub alongside updates to products such as the Apple TV and HomePod mini.

However, the LG-branded accessories may not become available immediately. Reports indicate that the accessories could arrive several months after Apple's initial smart home announcements.

Apple has not officially confirmed the products, their pricing or their release dates, so the leaked specifications should be treated as unconfirmed until the companies make an announcement.

Apple's Smart Home Strategy Could Challenge Google and Amazon

If the reports prove accurate, Apple's partnership with LG could significantly expand its presence in the smart home market.

Apple would gain access to products covering security, climate control and home access, while LG could benefit from Apple's ecosystem and software integration.

The strategy would put the companies in greater competition with established smart home platforms from Google, Amazon and Samsung, which already offer connected locks, cameras, thermostats and other home accessories.

For Apple users, the biggest attraction could be having more smart home hardware that works closely with the company's existing ecosystem.

Note: The products and specifications discussed above are based on leaks and reports. Apple and LG have not yet officially confirmed all of the details.
