Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera Layout Leak Sparks Conflicting Reports

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra is once again at the center of attention after new leaks revealed potentially different information about the phone's rear camera arrangement.

While earlier CAD-based renders appeared to show one camera configuration, newer information from well-known leakers suggests that some of the smaller camera components could be positioned differently. As a result, the exact layout of the Galaxy S27 Ultra's camera system remains uncertain.

Conflicting Information About the Camera Position

Recent Galaxy S27 Ultra leaks have focused on the secondary camera area on the back of the smartphone.

One set of CAD renders shared by OnLeaks reportedly shows a telephoto camera, microphone, auxiliary sensors and LED flash integrated into a pill-shaped section next to the main camera group.

However, Ice Universe has reportedly disputed this arrangement. According to his latest information, the camera and flash positions could be reversed, with the telephoto camera positioned lower and the flash located above it.

This disagreement means that the final camera arrangement cannot yet be confirmed.

Galaxy S27 Ultra Cases Add More Questions

Leaked protective cases have provided another possible clue about Samsung's upcoming flagship.

Images of several Galaxy S27 Ultra cases reportedly show two large camera openings arranged vertically on one side, while a separate oval-shaped area contains additional openings.

According to analysis of the leaked cases, one opening could accommodate a telephoto camera while another may be intended for the LED flash. However, there does not appear to be an obvious dedicated opening for the Laser Auto Focus sensor in the latest case design.

The absence of a clear cutout has raised questions about whether Samsung could change or reposition the Laser AF hardware.

Why Are the Leaks Different?

There are several reasons why early smartphone leaks can contradict one another.

CAD renders are generally useful for showing the overall dimensions, button placement and broad design of an unreleased smartphone. However, they may not accurately reveal components that sit flush with the phone's body.

Protective cases can also be based on preliminary dimensions or information obtained before the hardware design is finalized.

Therefore, the conflicting camera layouts do not necessarily mean that one source is deliberately incorrect. The final retail hardware could also differ from both early designs.

Camera Hardware Could Still See Changes

The camera positioning rumors come after earlier reports suggested that Samsung is planning to rearrange the rear cameras on the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Previous reporting indicated that Samsung could retain the 5x telephoto camera used on the Galaxy S26 Ultra rather than switching to the rumored larger-sensor 4x telephoto system. Ice Universe previously described the reported camera replacement as false.

The company may nevertheless change the physical positioning of the cameras to refresh the phone's appearance and provide additional clearance for magnetic accessories.

Laser Autofocus Remains Unclear

Another unresolved question concerns the Laser Auto Focus sensor.

The latest case leaks do not clearly show a dedicated opening for the Laser AF component. That has led to speculation about whether Samsung will retain the sensor, move it to another location or modify the camera hardware.

At this stage, however, there is not enough confirmed information to establish exactly what Samsung has planned.

Galaxy S27 Ultra Camera Layout: What We Know So Far

Final Thoughts

The latest Galaxy S27 Ultra leaks suggest that Samsung could be making noticeable changes to the arrangement of its rear camera hardware. However, the exact positioning of the telephoto camera, flash and Laser AF system remains disputed.

As the Galaxy S27 series is still in development, early CAD renders and leaked cases should not be considered final confirmation. More reliable information should emerge as Samsung moves closer to the phone's expected launch.

For now, the safest conclusion is that the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to receive a redesigned camera layout, but the precise arrangement has not yet been confirmed.
